JONAH BALLARD

A WESTERN STORY

November 5-7, 2026

Austin, Texas

...the world we experience is born in the world we first imagine.

"For the past few years, I've been working on a new collection inspired by the American West. A place where possibility feels as wide as the horizon, where every journey begins with a decision to imagine something beyond what lies before you.

These pieces tell a story but underneath, they're about something much closer to home: the creative power we all carry. What we experience is the echo of our earliest ideas. The world we touch begins in the mind."

Inspired by the West

The American West evokes many thoughts and feelings, some romantic and nostalgic and others wrought with conflict and struggle. Freedom, resilience, and endless possibility shaped the American dream. This series explores those ideas through a collection of over 20 acrylic paintings that blend a bold signature pink-palette with reimagined western stories.

Each piece is not only a part of the Western story, but also a part of something more intimate and personal: the power of imagination. Through the past 4 years of living and working on the road with his family in tow, Jonah has learned that the journey outward mirrors the journey within. There have been seasons of uncertainty, doubt, and moments when what he saw in front of him seemed to contradict what he believed to be possible. But, again and again, Jonah chose to cultivate and nurture his imagination in order to silence the doubts, and return once more, to trusting in the power of creation even when the evidence hadn’t caught up.

This series grew out of that experience. It is a reflection of the landscapes and roads well traveled, the wonder and beauty of life, and the lessons learned from living nomadically with an unwavering belief in what can be possible.

Each painting is a reminder that we don't have to let present circumstances dictate the future. We can imagine it first, feel it deeply, and continue to walk towards it until the world around us catches up. The horizon is full of the impossible made possible.
